Following the success of the first, second, third and fourth OTF conferences in Chicago, Cancun, Rome & Portugal which took place in July 2014, March 2015, July 2017 and July 2019, we are delighted to be organising a fifth series.
Complex oxide thin films are finding applications in a wide range of energy and information technologies, including electron and ion conductors, photovoltaics, thermoelectrics, dielectrics, and resistive switching. Irrespective of whether single thin films or more sophisticated multilayered systems are employed, each of these technologies requires a thorough knowledge of the oxide physicochemical properties, its interactions with the environment and the role of defect/interface/boundary effects that might stem between film and substrate, layers with different compositions or even simply from the grain boundaries. Whilst depending on the technology area the key properties might be different, many of the materials optimization strategies may be common. Therefore, we believe that the discussion between diverse and even complementary researchers’ communities can be extremely beneficial for a better understanding of the crucial aspects that need to be addressed to improve materials properties. The purpose of this meeting is hence to foster the exchange of ideas between the relevant energy and information themes with the overall aim of sparking extensive discussions of the advances that materials physics and chemistry can make in thin film applications.

Please send in an abstract for poster consideration, whether you wish to apply for shared or single accommodation, along with a few words as to why you would benefit from attending the conference to emily@fusion-conferences.com by 6th January. The Conference Chairs encourage applicants from underrepresented minorities to apply and identify themselves during the application.
Shared Accommodation Offer ($699) - Accommodation on a shared basis. A room sharer can either be requested or you will be paired with another delegate of the same sex who has also requested to share.
Single Accommodation Offer ($973) - Accommodation on a single basis.
Take advantage of this fantastic opportunity for students! Fully paying academics can bring a student for only $890. Unfortunately, Postdocs are not eligible. Cancun is a delightful combination of natural beauty, islands, ecological reserves and white sandy beaches. However, besides sun, sand and sea, this destination also offers an infinite variety of underwater activities to choose from: the diving, snorkelling and fishing here are outstanding and you will find an undersea world packed with tropical fish that live on the second largest barrier reef in the world. We have several poster opportunities available at this meeting. To be considered for a poster presentation, please register for the conference and upload your abstract when prompted to do so. You will be able to monitor the status of your abstract through your Fusion account and you will also receive an email if you are successful or unsuccessful.
Please use the abstract template provided (see below) and ensure your abstract is no longer than one page in length.
Our poster boards can accommodate a maximum poster size of A0 (1189H x 841W mm), portrait in orientation. Posters exceeding this size may not fit on the poster boards provided and therefore we may be unable to display your poster, so please kindly keep to these measurements.
Please bring your poster to registration and hand this to a member of the Fusion team. They will advise of your poster number and display your poster for you.
Your poster will remain on display for the duration of the conference, allowing presenters to take advantage of the refreshment breaks and free time for valuable networking opportunities, in addition to the official poster session.
Please check the programme and note the date and time of the poster session(s). Your poster will be judged during the poster session and prizes will be awarded at the Gala Dinner.
Posters will be taken down by the Fusion team and will be ready for collection at the Fusion desk on the final day of the conference.
